ESCAPE VELOCITY, coming 04/23/24 from Erewhon Books

I’m beyond thrilled to share with you all that my second book is coming out in a little less than a year! ESCAPE VELOCITY, a new standalone sci-fi thriller, will be out April 23, 2024 from Erewhon Books!

Here’s my short pitch: ESCAPE VELOCITY is about four friends who attend their high school reunion on a luxury space hotel, each arriving with their own hidden agendas for the weekend. However, they soon find their plans derailed by secrets from their past, and a looming threat that they don’t see coming.

The lovely folks at Gizmodo/io9 ran the announcement yesterday, and they have a longer summary, if you wanna know a little bit more about our characters. You can also head there to read a short excerpt, plus a few words from me and my editor:

This book shares a lot in common with recent media about privilege and inequality, like The Menu, Parasite, Knives Out, The White Lotus and Succession. There’s a lot of scheming, wheeling and dealing, and rich people behaving badly. In the coming months, I’ll be revealing more about the book, and you’ll soon see that it is also quite queer and very Filipino, even more so than The Sleepless. And of course, there will be twists, reveals, and reversals that I hope will get your blood racing.

The cover is still being finalized and you’ll hear from me again once that’s out, as well as when the preorder links become available. For now, mark your calendars, and keep your eyes peeled for my next announcements!
